Last October's K show in Düsseldorf, Germany saw the market launch of a number of all-electric blowmolding machines. For example, Nissei ASB Machine Co. Ltd. (www.nisseiasb.co.jp) used K for the commercial launch of its ASB 15N/10E, a one-step all-electric injection stretch blowmolding (ISBM) machine that its says uses 60% less electricity compared to hydraulic models and has reduced vibration and noise.

Kautex refines, relaunches its long stroke machine
Blowmolding machinery manufacturer Kautex (Bonn, Germany; www.kautex-group.com) has refined and relaunched its KLS (Kautex Long-Stroke) machine. The machine adopts former Fischer-W. Müller GmbH technology; that former blowmolding machine maker went through several different owners, laid dormant, and then its product range was relaunched by Kautex last year.

Economical leak testing for lower cavitation
Australia's Profile Solutions (Arcadia; www.profauto.com.au) has added a lower speed and lower cost leak testing machine to its range, which it says will meet the requirements of most blowmolders running one- to four-cavity tools. This model, called 2ld, is designed to enable processors with lower cavitation tooling, who do not need the speed of the firm's 4LD and 6LD models, to obtain accurate leak testing results at a lower capital cost.

NestlŽ Waters takes Sidel's 200,000th mold
Stretch blowmolding machine manufacturer Sidel (Octeville sur Mer, France; www.sidel.com) has sold its 200,000th stretch blow mold to NestlŽ Waters, the world's leader in bottled water and one of Sidel's key customers. The mold will be used to form 0.5-L bottles. The sale of the 200,000th mold was recognized at a celebration held in Octeville sur Mer attended by two NestlŽ Waters representatives: Steve Bendix, VP of operations, and Laurent Kuboj, global purchasing manager.

Label system reaps savings for big bottle blowmolder
Hunker Packaging Inc. (Cincinnati, OH; www.hunkar.com/label), a division of Hunkar, reports it installed an energy efficient Brute 3550 front/back label applicator in the plant of a blowmolder whose multiple lines process 5-gallon (18.925L) containers, with the result significant space and energy savings and improved efficiency.

Stretch blowmolding machinery manufacturer W. Amsler Equipment Inc. (Richmond Hill, ON; www.amslerequipment.net) has hired John Kowal as its blowmolding projects manager. He is responsible for promoting and selling WAE's PET stretch blowmolding equipment & ancillaries to the Canadian market.
