Tooling technologies offer cycle reductions, parts improvements
Last October's K show in Düsseldorf, Germany was the launch pad for a number of new technologies likely soon to have an impact on thermoforming processors' operations. At thermoform moldmaker Marbach (Heilbronn, Germany; www.marbach.com), Hubert Kittelmann, sales and marketing manager, said visitors to the firm's stand were very positive on its newest developments.....more>>
Sheet processor wants to transform APET market
With current amorphous polyethylene terephthalate (APET) sheet capacity of 30,000 tonnes/yr, Octal Holding & Co. already is no small fry, but the Salalah, Oman-based processor announced last fall that it intends to become global APET sheet leader this year. A new $300 million PET resin supply/APET sheet-extrusion complex is slated to come online later this year, giving the processor an additional 300,000 tonnes/yr of APET sheet capacity.....more>>

Lids processing
Thermoforming machine manufacturer Brown Machine LLC has worked with packaging automation company DJS Systems Inc. (Homer, MI; www.djssystems.com) to provide an unidentified but "leading lid processor" what is claimed to be the first successful triple row trim integration of its type for thermoforming, coupling a servo-actuated trim press with a 3-tier lid automation and packaging system. Brown supplied the trim press, and DJS supplied the automation system. Brown's trim press is based on a linear moving platen system, with a servodrive giving it the ability to slow down for a controlled long ejection
